Adduction, abduction, rotation, flexion, extension….gaaaaah. So many terms to remember for anatomy class. And yes, this is my brain fried and it’s just day 3. I am so happy though. And I am enjoying myself immensely :)

It’s amazing how life takes you to places you never imagined it would. I mean, when I was in high school, I had high hopes of going into medical school after. As a younger girl I was fascinated with the board gameĀ Operation and I’d look at how the wheels of computer chairs and all. Things happened, however, and my plans changed. But all of a sudden, out of nowhere, here I am, studying anatomy. Maybe not for medicine, but still for working with the body, right? I am gaining a better appreciation for the structure of my body and am learning to honor it’s structural limitations. With this understanding, I can avoid hurting myself like I did earlier this year, or damaging my knee to the point that I’d need a turning leg caddy to get mobility back. This is especially important because I’ve been pushing myself so much with our Ashtanga classes.

Anyway, even if the subject matter is a lot to take in, I like our anatomy teacher a lot because she doesn’t make the subject so technical but more practical. As she puts it, it’s anatomy in action. Tomorrow I get to try putting into action the stuff I learned yesterday and today. Wish me luck :)
